An architectural madness
The French Riviera was a favorite vacation spot for rich Europeans in the 19th and 20th centuries, and still has some perfectly preserved architectural “madness”, of which Villa Ephrussi is one of the finest historical examples. Built during the Belle Epoque between 1905 and 1912, the villa was the object of giant works to satisfy the desires of Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild. Upon her death in 1934, the Baroness bequeathed the villa to the Academy of Fine Arts.

The sumptuous palace, considered one of the most beautiful of the Renaissance style, dominates the surroundings and presents an eclectic style of elegance and refinement, and its dream gardens offer an incomparable sensory experience. A visit to the villa allows you to discover the large salons, private apartments and the Baroness’s art collections. But the interest of the visit lies above all in these superb gardens, a visit that is simply marvelous. Divided into 9 themed gardens, the tour takes the visitor through the geometric layout of the French garden and its musical water features, the lush vegetation of the Spanish and Florentine gardens and the archaeological remains of the lapidary garden. The garden is decorated with colonnades, waterfalls, ponds, pergolas and other kiosks, and is an invitation to a romantic stroll. The nocturnal of the villa
The villa also has a tea room and a restaurant to extend the visit a few more moments in this magical place. During the summer, evenings are organized to discover the villa Eprhussi from another perspective with more than 1500 candles illuminating the gardens and the villa. Shows, water games and concerts enliven the evening. You can also have a snack in the gardens with a packed lunch or drink a glass of champagne at the bar on the terrace of the villa. Please note that Villa Ephrussi offers a combined night and restaurant dinner ticket for a romantic evening.
